Ryan is our Development Coordinator supporting the development and management of One America as an organization. His strong sense of curiosity has led him to several far-flung locales around the world, diving deep into local cultures to get a better understanding of how different societies function. Such experiences compelled him to reckon with how little he knew about his fellow Americans across ideological divides, resulting in him applying the same level of curiosity and respect demonstrated abroad so that he could get to the core of what drives Americans to think and act on issues close to their hearts.
Prior to joining One America, Ryan worked in the education sector, providing education services for underserved populations in the developing world. He recently worked as a curriculum coordinator and high school science instructor in Nouakchott, Mauritania. Ryan is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served as a biology teacher in Tanzania and in rural Liberia where he trained primary school teachers at a teacher training institute. He has also worked in Boston-area prisons as a teaching assistant for an environmental justice course for students enrolled in the Boston University Prison Education Program.
Ryan is a native of New Orleans who enjoys cycling and backpacking around the world. He holds a master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education in international education policy and a bachelor’s degree in history from Boston University.
