Joy Friedman
Joy Friedman is a nationally recognized leader in faith-based organizing, donor engagement, and social justice strategy, with more than 20 years of experience mobilizing people and resources for transformative change. For the past two decades, Joy has worked at the intersection of faith and justice—most notably through her 13-year tenure at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, where she built and led multiracial, multifaith campaigns advancing racial, immigration, gender, and climate justice across the country.
Currently, Joy serves as Senior Director of Donor Organizing at Liberty Hill Foundation, where she brings her faith-rooted commitment to justice into philanthropic spaces—creating political education, donor learning experiences, and deep partnerships that resource movement work with integrity and purpose. She has organized in red, blue, and purple states, and is known for building trust-based relationships that transcend geography, identity, and ideology.
Joy also serves on the board of LA Forward and is an alum of the Aspen Institute’s Civil Society Fellowship. A proud Jewish organizer raised in Kansas, she brings lived experience of what it means to build bridges while standing firmly for justice. She is passionate about combating toxic polarization and believes in the power of faith communities to be healing, courageous, and catalytic forces in public life.
She lives in Los Angeles with her spouse and two young children, and draws strength from bedtime stories, pickleball, and conversations that move hearts and shift systems.
