Pastoral Advisor Tom Breeden presents an analysis of C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters. The science of polarization is weaved throughout this classic, and its lessons are a teacher for all of us.
Tom Breeden
Tom is the Senior Pastoral Advisor here at the One America Movement. He is a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America and previously served as the Associate Pastor at Grace Community Church in Charlottesville, VA. There he led the church’s efforts in adult discipleship and community engagement.
God fixes broken things, so Tom is passionate about the work of reconciliation. That healing starts with building relationships across divides. But, when he’s not pursuing such lofty goals, he likes watching superhero movies, training martial arts, and hanging out with his dog.
Tom holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Virginia, an M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary – Washington, D.C.
Lessons from The Batman
The newest installment of the DC Comics Batman series, The Batman is another blockbuster film. The film sees Batman, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncover corruption while pursuing the Riddler. In the process, he learns a lot about himself and those closest to him.
The Faith to Love
Dr. King’s commitment to love was not out of some shallow sentimentality. Instead, love sat at the center of his pastoral calling as the overflow of a deep well of Christian faith.
